Things To Do on Thanksgiving Weekend
With Thanksgiving arriving quickly on this upcoming Thursday, we assume your Thanksgiving dinner planning is well underway, if not finished. But have you thought about what you are going to do for the rest of the long weekend? This week, The Luxe at Creekside Blog is providing you with a few of our simplest suggestions. You might try doing some of these the night of your big feast when all the food is put away, and the others you might prefer to do later in the weekend.
Share Family Stories
In the age of smartphones and streaming, it’s easy to confuse spending quality time together with sitting in the same room on separate devices. When was the last time you got together to share family stories with your loved ones? Since you might not feel like moving too much after your big feast, this could be a perfect after-dinner activity on Thanksgiving. To set a warm and soothing mood, you might even try doing this by candlelight!
Decorate for the Holidays
Since December is right around the corner, Thanksgiving weekend is a perfect time to pull out the holiday decorations and to hang them up as a family. It might save you time and struggle, as you are likely to have a few extra hands around for the long weekend. On top of that, December gets busy quickly, with holiday celebrations sponsored by schools, offices, community centers, and so forth. If you dedicate a few hours this weekend, you don’t have to stress about it later when there is less free times.
Clean Out Your Closet
Since you are likely to receive a few new articles of clothing as gifts during the holidays, this weekend is a perfect time to sort through the clothing you already have. If there is anything that no longer fits you or you no longer like to wear, consider donating it to a local charity. By doing so, you might just be contributing to someone else’s Christmas!
Watch a Movie
Nothing goes better with eating a lot of food than watching a movie. Whether you feel like watching one on Thanksgiving Day or you wait until a later time during the weekend, you can’t go wrong by relaxing while you enjoy a good film. If you want to see a new release, check out movie times near you. You might prefer to stay at home, which is a great option too. We recommend watching a Thanksgiving classic like A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, You’ve Got Mail, or Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
